Testimony from the Journey of Grace course
When I decided to attend Journey of Grace, I didn’t know what to expect. I was, however, tired and fed up of running in circles and repeating the same patterns of behaviour in my life that always led to the same disappointments and pain. God seemed to be distant, I struggled to connect with people and I couldn’t understand myself or express the way I was feeling most of the time.
I realised that when I started the course, I was feeling like a little child in a grown woman’s body – scared of everything around her, alone and insecure, without a proper guidance on how to “do life”, always hiding within the confines of the walls I built around me. Towards the end of the course I noticed that from that child I moved on to feeling like a teenager, then a young woman and then finally I graduated onto feeling my own age. Each session allowed me to revisit my past, my relationship with God, relationships with family and friends, my fears and worries as well as what I was passionate about. I found a new identity and was encouraged to step into it, even if it felt awkward at first. For the first time in my life I felt I could own my life, my choices, even my mistakes. I felt freedom with a sense of responsibility and adventure that made me feel excited about life, and, most importantly, I felt God was a good Father, my Father, and He was closer than ever.
Journey of Grace provided me with a safe space to explore what it means to be me – God’s daughter, a human being, a woman… I was never forced but challenged in the kindest way to face myself and my beliefs; I was encouraged to open my heart and receive all the love that God had for me; the team was always available to support me on my healing journey and looked after me.
Journey of Grace is a wonderful way to start or continue a healing journey and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
