God as Father Stories

February 26, 2018

“I now see that I view God through a lens with my Father and husband in the way.  I have also learned to recognise my feelings and allow myself to have needs. I am beginning to recognise my needs. I also recognise the detachment and independence that I have used to control my life and feel safe, was actually a prison that I can now escape from into My Fathers arms” – Lizzie DW14

“A major part of the week was the realisation of how much I had projected an experience of my earthly father onto my heavenly father. With Jesus (and others) walking with me, I was able to begin to spend time with God as father without being afraid. I also had a new insight of God’s forgiveness and unconditional love which made real for me the offer of a new start with God”. – Heather DW 14

“I experienced a lot of healing with God as Father.  This was not only helpful for me looking at my upbringing, but as I take on a relatively new role as a dad.  It was also a revelation to see the cross as a place of exchange.  As I sat in the river, at the foot of the cross, I was able to let my sins be washed downstream.  This has become one of the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had”. – David ITB 16

Summer Week gave me space to get away in a safe worshipful space and allow the Holy Spirit to release deep trauma from abuse and shame. My understanding of the cross as a powerful place of exchange increased as did the power of symbols and exercises.
